Oppose permit parking on Bedford. Oppose Permit Parking Opportunity areas.
I am a home owner and resident of the Vista Monterey HOA at 1910 W Palmyra.
We do not want permit parking on Devon or Bedford. Our HOA community has 141 units with at least two voters per unit. We will inform our community and neighboring HOA's that if the city council approves permit parking in our neighborhood, to VOTE for an opposing candidate during elections. The City's Permit parking program is discrimination based on housing. There are many local residents who live in townhomes or apartments that will be discriminated against if more permit parking is approved. All residents pay taxes for the maintenance of the PUBLIC roads. It is not fair to give single family home owners the power to ban other residents from parking on the public street. The single family home residents have garages and driveways that allow them to park up to 4 cars on their property. They don't need to park on the street like apartment and HOA residents do.
Please stop approving permit parking especially in high density areas. It is discriminatory and anti family. We all deserve to park our cars safely near our homes on public streets that our tax dollars maintain. We will continue to monitor this situation as we do not want permit parking in our neighborhood for the above mentioned reasons.
I am a member of the Vista Monterey HOA located on Palmyra Ave near Devon Road. The city traffic commission has approved two permit parking requests that are near our community without assessing the necessity of it or any type of physical review. Our HOA consists of 141 units with at least two voters in each home. There are four other HOA’s direct adjacent and across from us as well as many apartments in the area. Many of them would be unhappy with the proposed parking bans on Devon and Bedford and we would do our best to let them know that this council is supportive of taking away the parking we pay for. We are not interested in parking bans when it is all residents that pay for the maintenance of the public roads. The single family residents have the capacity to park on their driveways and garages. The permit parking program appears to be based on keeping condo and apartment LOCAL residents out of the single family resident’s frontage. This is discrimination and the city should be careful to not step into legal trouble. We ask that you remove the designation of neighborhoods west of Main St as a Permit Parking Opportunity area (area #1). We ask that you do not approve any permit parking on Devon or Bedford. We will be monitoring
