8.2. Consideration of a Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program for security and utilities deposit rental assistance to be funded out of the HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
The use of HOME funds for security, utility and rental assistance are to be commended. I would encourage the city to include in its priority list pregnant women, as we are seeing pregnant women without shelter. I would also encourage the city to require its partners to determine if the resident is first eligible for a security deposit through Cal Aim, so that the funds do not go to residents who could obtain a one time security deposit through that program.
