I do not support a TOT measure at this time. This is something that could be revisited in the future once the city can boast a healthy budget again. The annual funds expected to be received by an increase in TOT does not even make a dent in the current deficit. If you are going to ask the voters to vote on a revenue increasing measure, go big or go home. Don't ask me to vote on a TOT measure, only to ask me to vote on a sales tax measure next election because you find out it didn't get the City anywhere.
While I support an increase a big reason that TOT is not a large or growing revenue source is due to lackluster ED efforts to attract and retain.
