While the community events included in this Agenda are a beautiful asset to the City of Orange, one has to imagine the cost of three Commissioners would outweigh a $70,150 sponsorship value. This overhead cost seems to be absent any additional funding required to launch said events. Essentially the residents of Orange would be paying for nothing more than an idea, which may or may not materialize.
If the Community Services Department (CSD) has been leading these Community Projects for 18 years, shouldn’t it know the costs by now and budget accordingly?
Why would Sponsorships be required for a publicly funded and budgeted event (and what would be the incentive for a local business, for example, to donate, if said event does NOT in fact occur due to shortage of funds)?
    Suggestions:
    1. Take a local poll of Orange Residents to get ideas and feedback on these events vs. staffing Commissioners.
    2. CSD to provide full Transparency of ACTUAL COSTS of said events and not bogus ‘rising cost’, ‘budget deficit’ language so the Community will factually see funds required, and decide to contribute/donate/sponsor, or not.
