Dear Honorable Members of the City Of Orange Council,
I am writing to express my unequivocal support for the proposed Resolution to Preserve the Public Trust in Law Enforcement Interactions. This thoughtful measure demonstrates a firm commitment to accountability, community safety, and the responsible exercise of government authority within the City of Orange.
The resolution rightly acknowledges both the federal government’s constitutional authority over immigration and the need for clear boundaries to ensure this authority is exercised in a manner that respects the rights, safety, and peace of our local communities. Recent enforcement actions by federal agents — conducted while wearing face coverings and without visible identification — have understandably provoked fear, confusion, and distrust among residents. Such practices risk undermining public confidence not only in federal agencies, but in local law enforcement as well.
By requiring federal agents to display proper identification and refrain from using disguises while conducting operations within city limits, this resolution provides a practical, constitutionally sound framework to restore transparency and protect residents from impersonators and unauthorized individuals who may pose serious threats.
I commend the Council for taking proactive steps to uphold the public trust, protect the well-being of vulnerable populations, and ensure that law enforcement interactions are professional and accountable. Your leadership in advancing this resolution reflects a deep respect for the people of Orange and our shared values of safety, dignity, and democratic oversight.
Thank you for your dedication to making our community safer and more just.

As a resident of the city of Orange where I was born and raised, I support the following actions:
No OPD/city department collaborations or data sharing with ICE
Require ID, no masks, and marked vehicles for all ICE & federal agents
Implement a community alert system prior to and during ICE activity
Provide funding and resources for legal aid and emergency assistance
Support for mutual aid collection and distribution
Offer regular "Know Your Rights" (KYR) workshops
Centralize printable information for families and businesses about community services, resources, & KYR on the city website
These are key steps in working to stop the fear that ICE is instilling in our communities and to join with other cities across the county and state in protecting our neighbors and our home. We must act now before the situation gets even worse.
I have lived many years in Orange and have a Latino house cleaner and my gardeners are Hispanic. I am sure that members of the city board also have hispanic employees. Let's face it, they live in fear. ICE is terrifying and roam around with faces covered in masks, unmarked vehicles and are armed. They are even arresting many who are citizens. They are being sent to countries where internment is obscene. It reminds me of WWII when Jews were forced into camps without a chance to protest or have representation. I'm hoping that the City of Orange will step up to the plate and help protect those who live in fear - whatever their culture. Stand up for what is right. I support Compassion for all and i hope you have the courage to do so too.
