10.1. Consider two resolutions that would submit to the voters a question adopting a City Charter, establishing priorities for filing written arguments, and directing the City Attorney to prepare an Impartial Analysis
I oppose the ballot measure on making Orange a charter city. I feel we need to focus on solving the budgetary priorities and not muddying the waters with the complication of establishing a charter city. I also feel it’s a bad look for the mayor and council to re-set the term limits and give themselves a substantial pay raise in the midst of the city’s financial problems. I understand Councilmember Tavoularis’ intention to explore all avenues to solve our crises but this is the wrong solution at this time.
