This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. Why would we want the name of the man that ruined Orange put on OUR beautiful PUBLIC LIBRARY? Did you think to ask anyone in the city if this is something that would benefit OUR city? It is named ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY, because that's what it is and has ZERO to do with the most fraudulent mayor we ever had which is Mark Murphy.

Do not name buildings after politicians. He was in it for his own gain. If you need to name it a local author or philanthropist would be more appropriate. Use a name that will mean something to generations to come.
If you want to name something after Mark Murphy name the toxic piles of covered trash on the Sully Miller site @ Cannon and Santiago Blvd in East Orange. Murphy allowed his cronies, Milan Capital to dump unchecked trash, debris , old pool tiles , fluids on that site creating a toxic landfill. NOW Milan is walking away leaving the mess for someone else to clean up. Murphy does not deserve to be honored for anything.

Although he did many positive things as mayor, he is also known as a divisive politician, too cozy with special interest groups, and his anti LGBQ stance runs counter to the Library's mission of inclusiveness and serving all members of the public. The City of Orange has enough on its plate to even consider this act of vanity. Maybe you could name a room in city hall after him. But please keep the Library as is.
